Maria thinks her
student violinist Sabina Pona looks like a little angel and even talks
like a little angel. I asked her if she plays like a little angel as
well. "Yes. She is so passionate, sometimes
she even plays like a little devil as well, to hear such a big sound
come from a little person, it's always such a surprise."
Sabina is only 6
years old in this picture and Maria has successfully taught kids as
young as 4 years old.
While it is important
to start out as young as possible if you want to play classical violin
or viola professionally, anyone can learn to play the violin or viola
and enjoy it. Maria believes she can teach anyone, though she has been
teaching children and teenagers professionally for the past 12 years.
It shows, too, as Maria has a wonderful report with children.
Maria has told me,
"When they are so young, just starting out,
it is extremely important to show them that they are important and that
they have value." Our own son, Max, at 23 months old, has
greatly benefited from Maria's kind, giving nature.
